Process

Stage 1: Research and Review
Our design and programming teams are dedicated to creating a site that reflects your company values and corporate image, which is why we devote the first phase in web development to research and review.

During this step:

  1. The client meets with management and/or our designers to explain their needs, tastes, and goals; as well as complete our website questionnaire. Webtivity staff also offers suggestions for optimal design and function solutions.
  2. A full proposal is provided to the client outlining our vision, site structure, pricing, and terms based on our meeting(s) with the client.
  3. Upon acceptance of the proposal and signing of the contract, designers research competitor's websites and review project documents including the proposal and website questionnaire.

Stage 2: Set Up
During this step we establish whether or not you would like to maintain your own domain name. If you choose to let Webtivity handle this, we do require that the name be transferred as this allows us to access any areas that may need administration or correction. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT WEBTIVITY TAKES OWNERSHIP OF THE NAME. You still maintain all rights to your domain name as well as your completed site, should you decide to leave Webtivity for any reason*. You may also choose to host at Webtivity which includes monthly maintenance, email account(s), and the 'rental space' that allows your site to be seen over the internet.

Stage 3: Visual Design
Depending on the clients needs, Webtivity designers may create between one and four Photoshop templates.

A template includes:

  • An overall defining look and layout
  • The client/company name or logo
  • Navigation (page links)
  • Content area
  • A footer (for a subtle, secondary navigation area and place to provide copyright notation)

The client is then given a link to view the created design(s) and provide feedback or signoff on a chosen look. Feedback may include alterations or combined elements to best fit the client's desired look and feel.

Stage 4: Development
This phase is where we focus on technical functionality of the site. The client is sent a new link to view progress and provide feedback to make any fine tune adjustments.

During this step:

  1. The design is sliced and optimized.
  2. All pages are created with clean HTML coding and scripting according to search engine recommended best practices.
  3. Supplied content is laid out in an easy to read and visually appealing way.
  4. Any required programming is created using Microsoft technologies unless otherwise specified.

Stage 5: Testing and Roll Out
Before the site goes live, a complete test is done on all functionality as well as beta testing of all programming by both Webtivity and the client. A complete link check, spell check, and clean up is completed on the site; and a final proof of all content is requested of the client. We then apply all the appropriate titles, meta tags, and alt tags to ensure search engine friendliness. Upon launch, the site is also submitted to all major search engines and directories. At this point the monthly maintenance service begins if the client is hosting with Webtivity.

*Ownership of all website design and development is transferred to the client upon final payment.
